Cytomorphologic Criteria:
SIL- ?keratinizing dysplasia? .Dysplastic cells with keratinized cytoplasm, hyperchromasia, coarsely granular chromatin, and irregular nuclear membranes are consistent with HSIL. SIL- grade may be difficult to determine in case of "keratotic" squamous lesions.
Explanatory Notes:
Classification of atypical keratinized cells depends on the degree of nuclear abnormality, nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio and to some extent, pleomorphism of cell shape.
