Cytomorphologic Criteria:
Severely dysplastic cells on the left display a high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio and irregular nuclear membranes. Moderately dysplastic cells on the right have similar nuclei and more cytoplasm.

Explanatory Notes:
Note the nuclear membrane irregularities and abnormally distributed chromatin. In liquid based preparations, hyperchromasia may not be as prominent as in conventional smears.
