Type of Preparation: ThinPrep/ LBP Magnification: High Clinical History: 32 yr old woman, HIV+. Anal-rectal sample Interpretation: LSIL Cytomorphologic Criteria: 2 year follow up -- developed anal HSIL; and also high grade cervical and vulvar disease. Explanatory Notes: LSIL showing nuclear enlargement and HPV changes. The cytologic criteria used in evaluating anal specimens are similar to those for the cervix. Follow-up: Anal samples often display more degenerative changes and evidence of cytoplasmic keratinization than seen with cervical samples
