Clinical History: 55 year old postmenopausal woman with history of prior atypical Pap test
Interpretation:
Atypical endometrial cells
Cytomorphologic Criteria: Aggregate of small cells with slightly enlarged nuclei, small nucleoli and vacuolated cytoplasm.
Explanatory Notes: Atypical endometrial cells may be associated with the presence of a wide variety of processes, including polyps, chronic endometritis, hyperplasia, and carcinoma. Patient had a prior Pap test that showed atypical endometrial cells. The Pap test was the first indication of endometrial disease.
