Nuclei are greatly enlarged, vary in size and shape, and contain hyperchromatic, coarsely granular chromatin and irregular nuclear envelopes. Note that the cytoplasm in this case is "non-metaplastic" or "lacy". Explanatory Notes: While there is significant nuclear size and shape pleomorphism, nucleoli and "tumor diathesis", features that are worrisome for invasive cancer, are absent.
