Clinical History: 33 year old on the "pill". Day 18 of menstrual cycle.
Interpretation:
NILM: Microglandular hyperplasia
Cytomorphologic Criteria: Endocervical cells and mucus.
Explanatory Notes: Endocervical cells seen in microglandular hyperplasia (MGH) can appear "pseudokeratotic" . At low magnification, this pattern should be distinguished from HSIL and histiocytes. MGH has previously been associated with "pill effect" and is more often seen in cervical cytology in the second half of the menstrual cycle.
