Branching may be evident in these bacilli (not seen here). Only a few polymorphonuclear cells are seen accompanying this particular colony. Explanatory Notes: Actinomyces is often associated with intrauterine device (IUD) usage. Organisms may alert clinician to look for evidence of pelvic infection. Follow-up: None
